Pahrump, a town situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, was once the ancestral land of the Southern Paiute Indians. It was during the late 19th century that Pahrump began to welcome settlers, who, according to legend, gave it the name Pahrump. This name was derived from the Southern Paiute expression Pah-Rimpi, which beautifully translates to “Water Rock”. The name was a fitting tribute to the valley’s abundant artesian wells, transforming it into a captivating oasis amidst the arid desert landscape.
